It has been a sad two weeks for music—beloved country music icon and 4x-Grammy winner Loretta Lynn passed away at 90, and Coolio, the California rapper best known for his worldwide No.1 hit Gangsta’s Paradise, died at 59.

Paramore hasn’t released new music in five years, but the Hayley Williams-fronted trio’s influence has been ubiquitous. The pop punk mainstays upended the emo scene in 2007 with their breakout single, Misery Business. At the time, Snail Mail was just seven years old, WILLOW was only six, and Olivia Rodrigo, who gave Paramore songwriting credits on her hit good 4 u, had just turned four, yet the band’s music has served as the blueprint for these artists’ angsty sounds. Even rapper Lil Uzi Vert has credited Williams as his biggest musical inspiration.
