It’s no coincidence that j-hope and J. Cole’s stage names both start with J. Since the beginning of his career, the BTS singer has emulated the North Carolina rapper. On 2013’s Born Singer, one of BTS’ earliest songs, the K-pop sensations interpolated Cole’s Born Sinner. The following year, Hope name-dropped the Dreamville leader on Hip Hop Phile. In 2018, Hope titled his debut mixtape Hope World after Cole’s debut studio album, Cole World. Then, this past July, the pair met for the first time backstage at Lollapalooza, where Hope professed to Cole, “You’re my muse.”

It appears the two have kept in touch. In a full circle moment, the Korean idol has joined forces with his own idol on the song on the street.
